Dog meat restaurants in
Eunpyeong-gu have flaunted their unauthorized business activities in Bukhansan Mountain National Park for more than 50 years.
Six restaurants in this area have made huge profits for decades from unreported operations, actively engaging in illegal business by welcoming large groups of customers to the site using their own buses. They have attracted a large number of patrons by installing foot volleyball courts, illegal buildings and setting up tables and tents next to the river despite the fact that development is restricted in this area.
After seeing Watchdog’s Dog Day campaign, an activist discovered that in addition to the illegal development and unreported trading, all restaurants here have been selling dog meat. This brave activist reported his findings to Watchdog who investigated the entire area and filed a complaint. Today, they received a response that the district office filed a collective complaint to the prosecution for violating the Food Sanitation Act due to an unreported business act.
In addition, we’re happy to inform you that these Bosintang (dog soup) restaurants located in the national park will be completely demolished by the national park maintenance and restoration project.
Follow the law.
Local governments can and will crack down.
Watchdog is always watching.
